An opening sequence is the first few minutes of a film, which establish the setting, event and main character of the movie. It often draws and immerses the audience into the film and leaves them asking questions or with a cliffhanger, so as to ensure they continue watching. In other opening sequences, it gives the title and/or actors of the film. Regardless of what the opening sequence is showing, it always makes sure to establish the genre of the movie through sound and visual means.
